Barbara Handzlik

I am among those lucky people who did not have any doubts when it came to choosing their professional career. Ever since I can remember, my hobbies have been concentrated on work with children.

I graduated from Jagiellonian University with specialization in psychological studies, especially a child’s psychology, and postgraduate studies at Warsaw University with specialization in early childhood education. Just after my graduation I was working in an integrated school as school psychologist. I was working with children who were especially gifted as well as with the disabled children. This work gave me an opportunity to observe an entire spectrum of a child’s development. Another stage of my professional career was a volunteer work in The International School in Wiesbaden where I observed with admiration how children were supported regarding self-presentation, discovering individual talents, and developing their passion to learn. I was wondering if I could take advantage of those experiences in Polish schools. Fortunately, I was given such opportunity by The International School where I have been working for four years now.

I think that my greatest achievement in my career is each situation when my students follow and cherish all the values that we work on each day. My success is when I see how they support, help, and respect each other, and when they notice and take advantage of their strong points.

I am a mother of two wonderful daughters. My family loves spending time actively, therefore sports and travelling are our greatest passions.
